R and I have always been great Cricket fans and now J has joined the band wagon of cricket fanaticism in our household. We were out somewhere and all he could think of was getting home to watch the cricket. Lucky he didn't tell me it was only a boys thing because like a typically little chauvinist he has been "genderising" everything we do into boy-things and girl-things!Anyway, this is not one of those "about my kid" stories. This is about the three of us racing home to catch the India-Bangladesh highlights on telly. WE HAVE SKY ONLY BECAUSE OF THE CRICKET. Well, about the match... The Indian team came out with the usual "loser" temperament, all nervous and scared and the Bangladeshis thrashed them royally. Thank God we are not in India and the Black Caps are playing fantastically so far. Still, we would like to see reps of the root culture do well. Tendulkar played like a Tendli and got out on 7. Dravid looked sad from the word "Go" and Ganguly was alright - you can't place an entire game on one person. As for the bowling, omg, the bowling sucked big time! Out of over a billion people it is bewildering that India can't find exceptional players. Come to think of it, there are really exceptional Indians but they are out of India. Look at all the immigrant Indian origin players in the other teams to see what I mean. I don't think that those would have even got a whiff of the Indian team selectors had they been in India but they are shining for someone else. Jiten Patel in NZ is a prime example. What can I say? Go India, wherever you may be????Labels: Cricket, india, indians
